Oral Assignment
Unit 6 Oral and Paired Assignment: Mock Job Interview
Assignment Description:
For this assignment, you will pair up with a classmate to conduct a mock job interview. You will take turns playing the role of the interviewer and the interviewee. The objective is to help you practice your professional English speaking skills and prepare for real-world job interviews. Both interviews will be recorded for review.
Scaffolding:
-
Preparation: Research and prepare for the job interview based on the job you applied for in the written assignments. Prepare both common interview questions and answers for the role you’re applying for.
-
Interview Session: Conduct the interview. One partner will be the interviewer while the other is the interviewee. Remember to use professional language and behavior.
-
Role Switch: Swap roles and repeat the interview process.
-
Review and Reflection: Review your recorded interview, evaluate your own performance as well as your partner’s, and reflect on areas of improvement.
Interview Prompts:
- Tell me about yourself.
- Why are you interested in this position?
- What are your greatest strengths/weaknesses?
- Tell me about a challenge you’ve faced at work and how you dealt with it.
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Self-Reporting and Peer Scoring Instructions:
When self-reporting, be honest and critical. Identify what you did well and where you can improve. When scoring your partner, be constructive and positive. Provide specific, actionable feedback.
Grading Rubric:
